Summer Reading

The Summer Reading Challenge runs from June 17-August 26, 2024

It's officially summer, and summer reading is in full swing. This year's theme is "adventure begins at your library" - with programs and summer reading challenges for folks of all ages, there's something for everyone. Stop by the library from June 17 to August 26 to register for our annual summer reading challenge and get free books.

Something for Everyone

We have three separate reading challeges - one for kids (birth - age 11), one for teens (age 12-18), and one for adults (age 19+). Please note, for emerging readers, caregivers are encouraged to log books read to young participants. And for all ages and reading abilities, whether you love reading a little or a lot, whether you're a kid, parent, grandparent, teen, newborn, or college student, and whether you're a year-round resident or only here for a week... this challenge is for you!

Getting Started

For kids, sign up in person in the Children's Room to sign up and receive your challenge sheet and free book. Teens and adults get a free book when signing up for summer reading at the Reference Desk.

Completing the Challenge

You can read, complete activities, or both! Kids complete a total of ten books and/or activities, while teens & adults complete a total of six books and/or activities to finish the challenge. You can also double-dip! If you finish a book while doing a reading activity (e.g. reading outside) you can check off the activity and put it in your reading log!

Prizes

Everyone who completes the challenge will be able to choose another free book from our prize cart. Additionally, for every bonus sheet you complete, you also get to choose a free book.
