Borrowing From Outside Our Network

Though we have many titles at the library and at the Old Colony Network, we know that sometimes you need a book that we simply don't have in our collection. We have two options for patrons looking for items outside the collection: Commonwealth Catalog and InterLibrary Loan!

Commonwealth Catalog

Can't find what you're looking for in your local system? The Massachusetts Commonwealth Catalog broadens your search to all of the libraries in Massachusetts, with convenient pick-up and return at your local library. Click here to search the Commonwealth Catalog (CommCat).

Items borrowed through Commonwealth Catalog may take several weeks to arrive, and can be checked out for 4 weeks with no renewals.

During our closure for carpeting and asbestos remediation, Marshfield patrons cannot place their own Commonwealth Catalog holds. However, library staff can still place Commonwealth Catalog holds for you for pickup at another OCLN library - just email maill@ocln.org with the title and author of the item you're looking for, your library card number, and the library where you'd like to pick up the item.

Interlibrary Loan

Sometimes even CommCat doesn't have what you need! Some items are so specific that only a few libraries have them. If you are looking for an item that you can't find anywhere else, library staff can attempt to make an interlibrary loan request on your behalf, which offers an even broader search. We cannot guarantee that we can get you what you're looking for, but we will do our best! InterLibrary Loan items may take up to a month to arrive, so they are best suited for less time-sensitive needs.

During our closure for carpeting and asbestos remediation, Marshfield cannot accept any ILL requests. However, Marshfield patrons can still make ILL requests for pickup at another OCLN library. Just contact the library where you would like to pick up the item, and their staff can make the request for you.
