Volunteer Literacy Tutors needed! Do you have a few hours a week to help an adult learn English?

  • No previous teaching experience needed or need to learn another language
  • Program provides tutor support, access to ProLiteracy tutor instruction, as well as teaching resources and materials
  • Tutors need only commit to 1.5 hours a week
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Quarterly support group meetings with other tutors and coordinators
  • Chance to work with students from range of countries and abilities!

Resources for Tutors

ProLiteracy Courses

Tutors have free access to the tutor training courses on ProLiteracy.org. You will need the Ventress's ProLiteracy Organizational Member Number. Amy Hamilton will provide this number to all tutors. In order to set up an account:

  1. Go to the ProLiteracy Login Page.
  2. Click Create Staff or Teacher Account.
  3. Once you've entered your information and clicked Next, enter the Organizational Member No.
  4. Finish setting up your account by following the prompts.

Once your account has been set up, go to ProLiteracy's Courses page. ProLiteracy has many helpful courses, but we recommend the following two to start with:

On the course page, click Go to Course to access the course. You may be prompted to log in again.
