The Historical Room contains books and documents that can be helpful in genealogy research. Books on Marshfield and local history, cemetery plot listings, town census/residential lists, limited vital records, town reports, and more. The Historical Room is generally open when the library is open, though it may be in use for a program: please call ahead if you need to use the room, so that we can best assist you in finding the information that you're looking for and ensure that we will have space available.

South Shore Genealogical Society
Meets at the John Curtis Free Library in Hanover, MA, at 1:30 p.m. on the 2nd Saturday of each month from September through June.
Marshfield Town Clerk

Marshfield Historical Commission
Official town historical body. Maintains a list of nearly 300 properties that have been determined to be of historical significance, as well as a survey of streets in Marshfield with names attributed to local and national history, detailing the origins of the names.

Passenger lists; court archives; vital records; census schedules; records of state institutions; military records; naturalization documents; adoptions, divorce, probate, and name change records; Plymouth Colony records, and more.
Some of these collections are searchable online while other collections must be accessed in person. If you plan to visit the Archives, contact them first to learn about any collection restrictions.
