Moving Right Along...

Time has been moving right along since we received the go ahead from town meeting in 2008 to begin the design phase of the new Ventress Library and apply for a construction grant.

The design work was completed in January 2010, including approvals from town regulatory boards and commissions. A geotechnical survey and a hazardous material study were conducted. The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners opened a construction grant round in May 2010. The committee hired a grant writer in July 2010. Awards (at 50% of project costs) will be announced in July 2011. Approval for town funding of the project (at $5.9 million) will be sought in October 2011.

June 2006 and is filled with excellent information about Marshfield's current library and its future needs.

Grant News

Application for a construction grant was submitted to the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners on January 17. If successful, the grant would provide 56% of the eligible costs of the expansion/renovation project.The library will also receive a credit for the land value ($800,000) and, as a green building qualifying for LEEDS certification, will receive a 2 to 3% bonus post construction. Awards are announced July 14, 2011.
